Mortal Kombat

GET OVER HERE!

Scorpion's spear, followed by the famous line GET OVER HERE! is one of the most iconic special moves and sound bites in gaming. Every Mortal Kombat game that featured our beloved Netherrealm-ian ninja had both the move and sound/quote in it. Its popularity left another blue ninja feeling rather cold-hearted.

Basic info

Scorpion is a fictional character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game franchise by Midway Games and NetherRealm Studios. A ninja dressed in yellow, his primary weapon is a kunai rope dart, which he uses to harpoon opponents. Debuting in the original 1992 game, Scorpion has appeared as playable in every main installment except Mortal Kombat 3 (1995).

Fun facts

  • According to Ed Boon, "Get over here!" was his idea - "it would be funny to have him yell out 'Get over here!' when he threw the spear."
  • Both "Get over here!" and "Come here!" are voiced by him.
  • Despite often changing shape from kunai to hook, harpoon, blade etc. everyone regards Scorpions signature weapon as a spear.
  • Cooking with Scorpion might sound like a joke but it actually exists as a Krypt unlock in MK Deadly Alliance.
  • Scorpion invaded other games like NBA Jam Tournament Edition, The Grid, PSI Ops etc.
  • Scorpion's absence from MK3 was because of the updated and "modern" roster of characters - this was a trend among fighting games at the time. Fans were pissed.
